OEGS members assembled three weeks earlier than in previous years to compete for the singles Stableford Crosse Trophy at Cooden Beach Golf Club. They encountered a course that was fast and firm after recent record heat waves, and also had to contend with a stern South-South Westerly breeze coming off the English Channel. David Dunn won the trophy, not for the first time, with a splendid 37 points. Ben Burrows took the runners-up spot with 35 points, and Claire Patterson-Snell and Tony Dunn (yes, a relation and a former winner) tied for third with 33 points. It was gratifying to see so many repeat participants. They will all be welcomed back next year and hopefully will be joined by new competitors for the Crosse Trophy.
