Fifteen OEGS members assembled at Cooden Beach Golf Club in early September for the Autumn meeting. The gathering consisted of former pupils, parents of pupils and members of staff and Emma Garrett to see us off.
The ladies took the top spots on the winners’ podium with Iryna Photiou capturing the Crosse Trophy with a spectacular 43 Stableford points. Claire Patterson-Snell was in close pursuit with 41 points, while Ian Henley led the non-distaff competitors with a creditable 37 points.
The scoring was particularly impressive considering the rough at the East Sussex seaside course had grown formidably thick from the unseasonably hot, humid weather.
We enjoyed a golfer’s lunch during which friendships were continued, re-established and created. The after-round cool drinks were savoured even more. There were plenty of handshakes, smiles and pledges to return next year.
