In very hot, sunny weather but with Worplesdon GC in excellent condition, our team of 6 players over the age of 50 convened to do battle in the Cyril Gray Tournament on 25^th June.  Our players were Adrian Sharpin, rookie Ben Dawson, Paul Wickman, Tim Mote, Adam Walker and David Barwell.

In the first round we faced Dulwich but even our star pair of Adrian and Ben lost by 3 and 2.  Adam and David also lost but Paul and Tim, in a very close match, were conceded a half.

In the first round of the Plate against a very determined Watson’s side, Adam and David out first lost very heavily but the other 2 matches went to the 18^th hole.  Adrian and Ben were all square at that stage and waited on the result in Paul and Tim’s match.  After a good deal of confusion as to what would happen should 2 matches be all square after 18 holes (in fact both would need to proceed to extra holes), Watson’s did win the last match.  They came down the 18^th 1up and both sides ended up getting (or being conceded) pars there.
