30 players congregated at West Surrey GC on Sunday 30^th August, a day for younger OEs to display their skills on the golf course in 8 teams (including a team of current College boys) competing for an array of prizes in teams of 3 or 4 and to enjoy each other’s company.

The Hon Sec (David Burt), who kindly organised for us to play at his Club and our President (Chris Walker) set the teams off and kept an eye on proceedings out on the course from a buggy.

The weather was kind, the course in fantastic condition given the summer weather we have had, and there were some very good golfers on show. It is however an open event for all abilities, and the handicap system always levels the playing field.

The College team (Teddy Dean, Harry Jordon, Hugo Stevens and Charles Spies) were presented with an OEGS pitch mark repairer as a memento of their day. They were soon on their feet again to receive the 3^rd place team prize with a very creditable 49 Stableford points (on countback). It did not end there, as Hugo Stevens collected the prize for the longest drive. A fine haul for the boys!

Spike Gleave brought a strong team again this year (Max Malewicz, Josh Veitch and Louis Louber joined Spike) and collected 2^nd prize with their fine 56 points team score. And Josh won nearest the pin on the 12^th hole.

The winning team’s original captain – Freddie Jones – had to pull out with tonsilitis so Will Coleman ably stepped in at short notice to join Ed Nolan, Daniel Hammond and Ross Seavill. Their 57 points was a fantastic winning score.

A popular event for friends to play together and I’m sure the OEGS will repeat the event again in 2027.
