This was our 6th time of holding this fixture since 2016 at N.Hants GC, Fleet on a gorgeous day for golf – not too hot and only a zephyr of wind. The course fairways were very dry as you would expect this summer but the tees and greens were in their usual excellent condition.

We enjoyed a very good 12 noon Brunch before the first tee-off at 13.00 for ten OEGS players vs. eight from Uppingham (two people had dropped out). Actually the OEGS team included a golfing friend of our Match Manager (Andy Lowe) who stood in at less than 24 hours notice as Colin Farrant sadly had succumbed to Covid.

We tried a new format of Stableford pairs better-ball (instead of matchplay). The pairs games were drawn 2-2 but the OEGS’s total of 151 points (from our best four pairs) handsomely bettered Uppingham’s 141 total.
