The Public Schools Putting Competition, Royal Wimbledon GC on 9th June 2021
Turning off the A3, and after several left and right turns, you suddenly arrive at this wonderful oasis in South-West London. What is it about the topography and soil of the area that enables this first class golf course to exist amongst the built up surrounding conurbation ?? And they also produce some mean tennis courts nearby.
Three OEs decided to take advantage of the offer to play the course before the putting competition itself and how glad we were to have done that. A blistering hot day, and playing an immaculately presented course was a joy.
Mark Justice, Adrian Sharpin and Ben Dawson made up the OE team of three. The putting green at RWGC is beautiful: vast, undulating, very quick and true. Solid performances by all three enabled Eastbourne to avoid the ignominy of relegation but not qualification for the final the following week. Well done gentlemen and we look forward to 2022.
