The Eastbourne team consisted of David Barwell, Ben Burrows, Tony Dunn, Adam Walker, Chris Walker and Paul Wickman.  The tournament was played at Worplesdon GC between 21^st and 23^rd June, albeit we did not last beyond the 21^st.  Some of the team practiced on the 20^th and some of us also attended the excellent dinner that evening.

David woke up on the 21^st with a very bad back and we really thought that he might not be able to play at all.  In the first round vs. Gresham’s, he and Adam played top pair and duly lost quite heavily but in the Plate later that day vs. Merchant Taylors’ this same pair actually won !!

We went down 2-1 against Gresham’s and then by the same score in the Plate but the deciding match in the latter, in which we were represented by Tony Dunn and Chris Walker, went all the way to the last putt on the 18^th green.

Worplesdon is always a pleasure to play and the practice round (and dinner) on the Tuesday are to be recommended.

Rossall won the 2023 Cyril Gray but Merchant Taylors’ went on to win the Plate.
