OEGS wins the wine but not the Triangular match itself
Thursday 17 October 2019 – Triangular Match Vs Dovorians and Honitonians
Our Triangular Match was once again held at the attractive West Surrey GC on a day which started with drizzle but by early afternoon turned into a very pleasant sunny October day, with teams from the Dovorians (Dover College), the Honitonians (All Hallows) and the OEGS, all competing for the ‘Foresail Trophy’.
This year we had 7 three ball matches, consisting of a player from each school. Unfortunately, the OE team was unable to retain the trophy, just losing out by four points to the winners, the Dovorians, who scored a total of 214 points. The Honitonians were third with 200 points.
The OEGS team included David Burt (Captain), Richard Day, David and Tony Dunn, Peter Henley, Will Thornton and Ziggy Trzebinski.
However, it wasn’t all bad news, as the OE’s won all the prizes of bottles of fine wine – Tony Dunn was nearest the pin on the 12th and had the highest stableford score with 39 points and David Burt was nearest the pin on the 16th hole.
Despite the slightly mixed weather, everyone seemed to enjoy playing the course and taking advantage of the popular halfway hut for a bite to eat.
